After 20 years in communications, Clarissa started her own floral design shop, Moriviví. In 2017, she returned to her passion for cooking and began teaching. Clarissa attended the Italian Culinary Institute in 2017 and 2021. Now, she teaches cooking classes and hosts private dinner parties under the Home cooking therapy project. “I love bringing people together at the table and making them feel good with a simple meal. There’s a particular joy that I take from cooking and sharing my recipes with others, but most of all the culture the kitchen provides for gathering and sharing not only food, but our lives.”

Juan Penzini-Granier

Meet Juan Penzini-Granier and Mariana Brewer, the driving forces behind Artisan Culinary School. With 15+ years of culinary and hospitality experience, Juan and Mariana's journey started as professional cooks. Their dedication to education and love for gastronomy led them to embark on a quest for culinary excellence. Mariana excels in hospitality and wine expertise, while Juan specializes in technical culinary skills and gastronomic culture. They invite you to join their culinary adventure, where food, wine, hospitality, and exploration converge. DAY 1

 May 13th - Arrival day

Day 1: Arrival

Upon your arrival at Bari Airport, our tour leaders will warmly greet you. We've arranged a scheduled transport to smoothly take you to the historic town of Matera, where you'll be staying for the next few days. Your accommodations will be nestled within the ancient and stunning sassi, offering a unique and immersive experience in this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Once in Matera, you’ll have time to settle into your rooms, unwind, and familiarize yourself with the surroundings. In the evening, we will gather for a meet and greet, providing an opportunity to get to know your fellow travelers and our team. This will be followed by a brief session to outline the upcoming itinerary and answer any questions you may have about the adventure ahead.

To cap off your first day, enjoy a welcoming dinner at a local restaurant. This meal will introduce you to the rich culinary traditions of Matera and the surrounding region, setting the tone for the days to come. It’s a perfect moment to relax, connect, and look forward to the unique experiences that await.


DAY 2

May 14th

Day 2: Olive Oil Tasting, Guided Visit to Matera

On the second day of our journey, we’ll start with a leisurely morning, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy your surroundings. As the day progresses, we’ll gather for a late morning olive oil tasting, where you’ll be introduced to the rich flavors and varieties of Italian olive oils. Alongside this tasting, we’ll have an introductory lesson on Italian agroalimentary products, offering insights into the region’s renowned food culture and its significance in Italian culinary traditions.

In the afternoon, we’ll embark on a guided tour of Matera, exploring the fascinating history and unique architecture of this ancient city. You’ll wander through the winding streets of the sassi, discovering the hidden gems and stories that make Matera a UNESCO World Heritage site.

As evening falls, we’ll come together for dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll enjoy a meal that showcases the best of Matera’s culinary offerings. It’s the perfect way to end a day filled with learning, exploration, and the unforgettable flavors of Italy.


May 15th

Day 3: Altamura, the Town of Bread

On the morning of Day 3, we will set out for Altamura, known as the capital of bread. Our first stop will be at an ancient, traditional oven where you will discover the secrets behind Altamura’s famous bread. You will learn about the traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations and, of course, get to taste the freshly baked pane di Altamura along with other traditional Altamuran specialties.

Afterward, we will visit a renowned pastry shop, which is part of a historic cloister. Here, you’ll have the chance to sample some exquisite pastries, each one a reflection of the region’s rich culinary heritage. During our visit, we will also introduce you to Padre Peppe liqueur, a unique and flavorful spirit that is deeply rooted in local tradition.

Following our excursion to Altamura, we will return to Matera in the afternoon, giving you some time to relax and reflect on the day's experiences. Dinner tonight is free, giving you the opportunity to choose your own dining experience, whether that’s enjoying a casual meal at a local trattoria or indulging in something more refined.

DAY 3


May 16th

Day 4: Free Day in Matera

Day 4 is designed to give you the freedom to explore Matera at your own pace. Whether you choose to dive deeper into the town's rich history, wander through its charming streets, or simply relax and soak in the unique atmosphere, the day is yours to enjoy.

To help you make the most of your time, we will provide you with a curated list of must-see highlights in Matera. This guide will include recommendations for key historical sites, such as ancient churches and museums, as well as suggestions for the best restaurants, bars, and cafes where you can savor local specialties.

Take this opportunity to discover hidden gems, indulge in local cuisine, or perhaps find a quiet spot to relax and reflect. Whether you’re in the mood for exploration or relaxation, Matera offers a wealth of experiences that cater to every interest.

DAY 4


May 17th

Day 5: On our Way to Ostuni

On Day 5, we’ll depart from Matera and set off on our journey to a charming villa near Ostuni, a picturesque town known as the "White City" due to its whitewashed buildings. After arriving and checking into the villa, you’ll have time to settle in and relax in this beautiful setting.

In the late afternoon, we’ll head into Ostuni to explore its narrow streets, vibrant squares, and historic architecture. The town’s elevated position offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coastline, making it an ideal place to wander and soak in the atmosphere.

As evening falls, we’ll gather for dinner at a local restaurant in Ostuni, where you’ll enjoy a meal that showcases the region’s fresh, seasonal ingredients and traditional culinary techniques. It’s a perfect way to end the day, surrounded by the beauty and flavors of Puglia.

DAY 5


May 18th

Day 6: Visit a Local Cheesemaker, Locorotondo

Start your day at the villa with a delightful breakfast, preparing you for another day of culinary and cultural exploration. Midmorning, we’ll head out to visit a local cheesemaker near Locorotondo. Here, you’ll gain insight into the traditional art of Pugliese cheese-making, observing the skilled techniques used to craft local cheeses. This visit also includes a tasting and lunch, where you’ll savor freshly made cheeses alongside local cured meats, olives, and hearty bread, offering a true taste of the region.

After lunch, we’ll continue to the picturesque town of Locorotondo, known for its whitewashed houses and stunning panoramic views. You’ll have free time to explore the charming streets, browse quaint shops, and relax in the town’s cafes at your own pace, immersing yourself in the serene atmosphere.

In the early evening, we’ll enjoy dinner at a local restaurant that highlights classic Pugliese cuisine. After dinner, we’ll return to the villa, where you can unwind and reflect on the day’s experiences.

DAY 6


May 19st

Day 7: Martina Franca & Alberobello

Begin your seventh day with a scenic drive to Martina Franca, a jewel in the crown of Puglia known for its baroque architecture and vibrant local culture. In Martina Franca, a highlight will be our visit to a renowned capocollo producer. Here, you’ll delve into the world of Italian salumi, tasting an array of finely crafted meats that showcase the depth of flavor and tradition embedded in Italian salumeria.

After savoring these local delicacies, take some time to wander through Martina Franca. Explore its elegant streets lined with white baroque buildings, chic boutiques, and lively cafes. This is your chance to experience the town's unique blend of history and modernity at your own pace.

In the afternoon, our journey continues to Alberobello, famous for its trulli—distinctive limestone dwellings that are a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a guided tour of these fascinating structures, learning about their historical significance and architectural features. As the day draws to a close, we’ll catch the sunset over the trulli, creating a magical photo opportunity with the sky casting golden hues over the conical roofs.

The day will conclude with dinner at a local restaurant in Alberobello, where you’ll indulge in dishes that highlight the region's robust pasta traditions and inventive desserts.

DAY 7


May 20nd

Day 8: Winery Visit and Tasting, Lecce

On Day 8, after enjoying breakfast at the villa, we’ll set off for a day of discovery in Lecce, often referred to as the "Florence of the South" due to its stunning Baroque architecture. Before reaching the town, we’ll stop at a renowned winery in the region for a wine tasting experience. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to sample some of the area’s finest wines, learning about the local grape varieties and winemaking techniques that make this region so special.

Following the wine tasting, we’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch, featuring local dishes that perfectly complement the wines you’ve tasted. After lunch, we’ll head into Lecce for a guided tour led by a knowledgeable local guide. As you walk through the historic streets, you’ll explore Lecce’s rich history, beautiful churches, and intricately carved limestone buildings that define its unique architectural style.

In the early evening, we’ll dine at a local restaurant in Lecce, where you’ll savor traditional cuisine that showcases the flavors of the region. After dinner, we’ll return to the villa, giving you time to relax

DAY 8


May 21rd 

Day 9: Bari

On the morning of Day 8, we will depart from our villa and make our way to Bari, the vibrant capital of Puglia. After checking in at our hotel, we will gather for a shared meal, offering a chance to enjoy local flavors together and discuss the days ahead.

Following lunch, we will embark on a guided walking tour of Bari’s historic old town. As we stroll through its narrow streets and alleys, you’ll discover the rich history and cultural landmarks that define this coastal city, including ancient churches, bustling squares, and the picturesque seafront.

After the guided tour, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You’ll have the freedom to wander through Bari’s charming streets, explore local shops, or perhaps relax at a cafe and watch the world go by. To help you make the most of your time, we will provide a curated list of our favorite spots in the city, including recommendations for restaurants, bars, and other points of interest.

Dinner tonight is free, giving you the opportunity to choose your own dining experience, whether that’s enjoying a casual meal at a local trattoria or indulging in something more refined.

DAY 9


May 22th 

Day 10: Day Excursion to Polignano a Mare and Monopoli

On Day 10, we will take you on an excursion to the stunning coastal towns of Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. We’ll start the day in Polignano a Mare, known for its breathtaking cliffs and crystal-clear waters. As we explore this picturesque town, you’ll have the opportunity to savor some local specialties, perhaps indulging in a refreshing gelato or the famous “caffè speciale” that Polignano is known for.

After enjoying the sights and flavors of Polignano a Mare, we will embark on a scenic boat ride along the coast, taking in the beauty of the Adriatic Sea as we make our way to Monopoli. This relaxing journey offers spectacular views of the coastline and the perfect opportunity to soak in the serene atmosphere.

Once in Monopoli, you’ll have time to explore this charming town with its historic port, whitewashed buildings, and vibrant streets. In the evening, we will gather for dinner at a local restaurant renowned for its excellent fish and seafood. This meal will highlight the freshest catches of the day, prepared with the simplicity and skill that defines the region’s cuisine.

DAY 10


May 23rd

Departure From Bari On Day 11;

We bid farewell as your journey through Puglia comes to an end. We have arranged scheduled transports to ensure a smooth and stress-free departure for all guests. Whether you are heading to the airport or the train station, our team will assist with your transfers, ensuring you reach your destination comfortably and on time.
